There is a known Epic issue where medication orders on hold, with a specific duration, bypass pharmacist verification once the hold period is complete. Until this issue is resolved, duration-based holds will be temporarily removed, and you can only release on hold medications manually, when patients can be restarted based on provider assessment. This will help ensure medications obtain appropriate pharmacy verification.

When placing a medication on hold, duration-based hold options are no longer available, and the medication will remain on hold Until Manually Unheld, and a Hold Reason will be requested.

When a medication is held, you’ll see the Medication held indefinitely notation, and the Manage Orders activity displays the Held medications need review
